Not all ants are kept the same way. That is why we rate each species by how demanding it is in terms of temperature, humidity, feeding and handling, so you can choose a colony you can look after properly.

  • Beginner: hardy, easy-to-keep species, ideal for your first formicarium.
  • Advanced: species with specific climate or feeding needs.
  • Expert: delicate, rare or highly specialised species for experienced keepers.
